    3. Hi Folks, A ship-load of 'Palatine Refugees' and Swiss Protestants came to Savannah, Georgia on December 20 & 21, 1737. The ship was the "Three Sisters", commanded by Captain Hewitt. It loaded at Rotterdam and stopped over at Cowes before proceeding on with the oceanic crossing. Dutch Island (near Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia) was named for my ancestral family and their neighbors, who were mostly German in origin. Many of those people were described as being from Pfalz / the Palatinate. However, it is known that some originated in Switzerland. Dale E. Reddick Surname variations: Radick, Raddick, Readick, Readdick, Redick, Reddick, Rettig, Rettige LinSig1941@aol.com wrote: > My gg grandfather embarked from Havre in 1840 on the Ship Burgundy > > ********* > Information for list members: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/DEU/PFALZ.html >
