I think it most likely that he entered the USA though NYC to Clevalnd and to Port Washington on the Ohio Canal. find Jacob Pees on the Castle Garden web site. Once you have found him look at the picture of the manifest which should tell the port of departure. You may have to find the beginning of the manifest to find the port. Also ask on the Tuscarawas County list as other families may have come with him bob gillis
Thanks Bob I think you might have hit on something with the canals. I have tried to get more info from the OHTUSCAR list . I know my family came from Baumholder and I have sent for records from there . They sent me the request to immigrate form for the family . The whole family (mother and father and 6 children ) came and I am sure that there were other families that were already in Port Washington from that area . They set up a Evangelical church there and my GGgrandfather Wilhelm was one of the founders . (I have the book) I have not had any luck with any other family coming at the same time and I have tried all spellings on Castle Garden but have not found them . \ Thanks again Sonny ----- Original Message ----- From: "bob gillis" <robertgillis@verizon.net> To: <pfalz@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2007 6:57 AM Subject: Re: [Pfalz] Departure port > Godfrey Eardley wrote: > >>On the 1900 census my GG grandfather Jacob Pees said he immigrated in 1848 >>from Baumholder .
