This is a list of my emigrant ancestors from Bosenbach and Eßweiler to Boston, MA and Dubuque, IA. I am interested in finding other descendants of these families. (Georg) Peter DICK and Maria (Katharina) MAURER married 12 December 1833 Bosenbach, Pfalz, Bayern, Germany. Peter DICK was born 01 Sept.1806 in Bosenbach and died 11 March 1877 Bosenbach. Maria MAURER was born 09 March 1809 in Bosenbach and died 14 February 1880 also in Bosenbach. Two of their seven children immigrated to the United States. 1 - Jacob DICK Born 06 Nov. 1834 Bosenbach Married Margaretha Rueter 11 Nov. 1875 Dubuque, IA Died 01 January 1901 Dubuque, IA Immigrated about 1854 to New York, NY Jacob came to the US before his brother Daniel. He lived in New York, Cincinnati, OH then settled in Dubuque, IA where he died. He half owned a tavern with his nephew Jakob "Walter" DICK (known as Walter). Jacob "Walter" DICK moved to Dubuque and took over Uncle JWD's business, as uncle had no children. (Jakob's obituary (1901) said he had 2 sisters living in Germany, presumably Katherina and Philippina, as well as a brother in Boston. ) 2 - Daniel DICK Born 15 Dec. 1843 Bosenbach Married Philippina JUNG 10 February 1869 Eßweiler Died 18 March 1918 Boston, MA Immigrated to New York, NY March 1886 (according to his naturalization papers) Philippina JUNG was born 23 Feb 1843 Eßweiler Died 13 December 1902 Boston, MA. (All six of their children were born in Eßweiler and immigrated to the States. Son Jacob "Walter" was the only one of the kids to move outside the Boston area. Children: Karolina b. 28 August 1870, Jacob Walter b. 01 March 1872, Ida b. 16 January 1876, Wilhelmina b. 17 November 1878, Amelia b. 03 October 1884 and Clara b. 07 September 1887) Daniel was a good musician - he played the Coronet in Germany and belonged to a concert band. He was invited to play in the U. S. and came (without his family). He played in several towns and was a success. He went back to Germany and was again invited to the U. S. He wanted to move to U. S. but his wife didn't. He told her he was going with or without her so she decided to come after all. They had a farm in Germany and proceeded to sell their cattle, etc. They came to Roxbury, MA. Daniel worked as a gardener later in life when he lived with his daughter Ida. 3 - Philipp JUNG (brother of Philippina JUNG noted above) Born 19 May 1848 Eßweiler Married Helena Eldrucher Abt. 1873 Died 1902 Boston, MA Philipp immigrated sometime before 1882 and settled in Boston, MA. She was born 21 March 1846 in Bosenbach and died October 1870 in Bosenbach. Karl was also a musician like Daniel and most likely met his wife through his music in Bosenbach. He was a violin player and a chauffeur for the Kuch family in Roslindale, MA. Kind Regards, Nancy Atkinson Manchester, NH Great-granddaughter of Ida (DICK) SCHMITT
