Happy New Year to all fellow listers My New Year`s resolution is to learn the origin of my immigrant ancestor Nicola/Nicolaus Walter who came to America on Sept. 9, 1751 on the ship Patience. A deceased relative had obtained a photo-copy of the ships passenger list from a book titled "Pennsylvania German Pioneers" pages 533 and 534. The document indicates that there were 8 Roman Catholics among the passengers, 3 or 4 being my ancestor and his family. A copy of this list that I obtained from The Olive Tree Genealogy site indicates that these passengers were Palatines. Since I am fairly new at this I have a few questions that I hope some of you listers can answer for me. Are there any additional records available that would relate to these passengers arriving in Philadelphia that might more specifically indicate where they came from? What is the significance of the notation about 8 Roman Catholics on board? If these passengers were Palatines, from what area of present day Germany would they have come from? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me. Robert Walter
