Bob, Priszen, Luxembourg is listed in old family records as the birth place of Anna Mary HAIZER (may also have been spelled HESER). I have received responses from TRIER list that make sense, so I think it has been answered...unless you have other information. Please see below. Thank you! Laura "the "ß" is called "scharfes s" (sharp s) or "sz" in Germany. So in past days, Preußen could be Preuszen. From, Preuszen to Priszen it`s not so far. It`s was so unusual that emigrants said they came from "Preussen, Luxemburg", even this makes no sense politically. I think they meant, that they came from the Lux/pruss border region." > Anna Mary HAIZER > Born August 24, 1838 in Priszen, Luxembourg. > Died February 2, 1886 in White Lake, South Dakota, United States. > (Note: Some research indicates the last name of HAIZER might have been HESER in earlier yearsor that HESER was simply a translation from Latin church records error.) Other TRIER list response re: HAIZER: Haizer is spelled in English the way Heser is pronounced in German. I strongly suspect that Haizer is the Anglicized version of the name. ********************** -----Original Message----- From: bob gillis [mailto:robertgillis@verizon.net] Sent: Friday, August 11, 2006 1:25 PM To: PFALZ-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Pfalz] Priszen, Luxembourg - or is it now Germany? + HAIZER Laura Henkes wrote: on Tuesday, August 08, 2006 1:39 PM >>Subject: [Pfalz] Priszen, Luxembourg - or is it now Germany? + >> >>I have not been able to find location for Priszen, Luxembourg, >>and I know the borders between Germany and Luxembourg have >>changed over the years.
