John, I've wondered about this myself. In many ways, it's a crap shoot, although every now and then you do hear of folks getting a hit on something. As for me, I am researching ancestors who came from the village of Insheim, near Landau. I'm researching the names Metz, Karch (or Karg), Buckel, Phalzer, Gerum, Schwein, and Gademann. All are from Insheim until the early 1800's or even, in a couple of families, until the first half of the 1700's. I haven't run into many people with ancestors from Insheim.
