    3. I have been researching the METZ family who emigrated to the U.S. (specifically Cincinnati, Ohio) from Insheim in the Pfalz about 1866. A couple of months ago I sent off letters to Metzes who still live in the village to see if there might be any connections. I had received one response from a widow who gave me her husband's genealogy back to the 1830's, but there was no connection (although it's certainly possible we could be related more distantly - as if that wouldn't be distant enough <G>). On Monday, I received a large envelope from another Metz in Insheim. Along with her letter (which I'm still translating), she sent me a booklet of the village's celebration of their 1200th anniversary in 1985. Likewise, she sent a copy of a photograph which they had of three women, not named, nor do I have the connection of the folks who have the picture in their possession (she told me the name, but not who he was). The thing that caught my eye was that the photograph was taken in Cincinnati, Ohio and looks to be from the late 1800's. I've been guessing that they are three of my great-grandfather's four sisters. I noticed a resemblance in the square jaw of one of the women to my great-aunt. I showed the picture to my dad (who was born in 1928) and asked him what he thought and he said the same thing about the square jawed women and said one of the other one's resembled his Aunt Betty, his dad's other sister. Certainly this isn't a picture of them because they were born in 1890's, but others are noting the resemblance too. I'm going to try to determine if there is more information about the picture, but I suspect not. I just wanted to share this wonderful story about the kindness of a possibly distant relative.
