Karla, The tool I use for the question you ask "Have I left any records for that area, where someone's christening from Bobenheim might be recorded?" is ShtetlSeeker (http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/LocTown.asp). Once you find the correct village, click on the little target in the right column and it will list all the villages within 10 miles in radial distance order. I start by copying (highlight then crtl-c) each in order and going to the online LDS Family History Library catalog at FamilySearch and check (crtl-v) to see if they have the records I seek. FYI: The column with E M U G will give a map from Expedia, Mapquest, mUltimap, or Google. Note: ShtetlSeeker shows there are 2 Bobenheims only 10 miles apart: Bobenheim am Rhein and Bobenheim am Berg. BTW, in some areas of old Germany the local pastor was tasked to record all the baptisms, marriages, and deaths in the village, regardless of religion. There is the little known fact that the pastors were employees of the state, not the church.
