Andy, and the list- Did you tell us the religion of your ancestors? Usually others ask this before me, but I do not recall an answer. As I have said before, my own ancestors -being Calvinists- moved west into Hesse about the time of the revocation of the Edit of Nantes in 1685 seeking freedom to practice their religion. They then followed the Dukes of Nassau-Weilberg back into the Pfalz (Kirchheimbolanden) in the early 18th century (1730s). I have no family experience with Galacia so cannot comment on that. I simply offer religion as one possible explanation for such moves. Rob Hausman At 10:12 AM 2/21/2007, you wrote: >Thank you for the information. Hi Robert, they were Catholics, as in the title I gave for the Familienbuch. I have checked non Catholic Familienbuch's in the area but have not found any links. The family I am most interested in is Bresch/Presch. I have traced them back to the early 1700's but that is where it has stopped. I did run across a Presch in Colmar in the 1600's and that is my next place to research, awaiting films from FHL. Another name I am researching is Schnerch (also Catholic) but I have not found anything on them, not even emigration records, although there were many Schnerchs in Galicia. I am now awaiting another film from the FHL, Ansiedlerakten, 1686-1855 which gives information on the emigration from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Bohmen, and Moravia. I will now read about the Edit of Nantes, it may give some clues. Thankx Andy -----Original Message----- From: pfalz-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:pfalz-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Robert E.
