Nadine, My great grandmother's maiden name was also Thoma. Adelheid Thoma was born in 1814 in Pfaffenhausen, Bavaria, Germany and married my great grandfather, John George Huber, in 1841 in Oberrieden, Bavaria, Germany. They came to the US in 1854 with four children and settled in Cincinnati. Don't know if this has any connection to your Mary Josepha Thoma as they would have been a generation before her.
