Looking for exact German surname for Joseph Christian Vatter (or at least that is what we believe the spelling of the surname was, maybe with two dots over the a) The name was anglicised to Vetter, Fedder, Fether, then Feather, all depending upon who wrote it down. Joseph and his wife Maria ______, their son Jacob, and we believe their daughter Anna Clarissa immigrated to Philadelphia in 1775 aboard the King of Prussia. Jacob was born in Germany September 10, 1759 near Frankenthal. They were of the Lutheran faith. Without the exact German spelling of the surname, it makes it almost impossible to do German research. Many volunteers will look up information, but one has to have the spellings correct. Many church records of this area have been mirofilmed by the LDS church, but I'm not exactly sure what name to look for. I'm hoping someone on this list has access to some records that can find the birth above. Finding this German name may very well lead to finding some cousins in Germany. That would be wonderful. Can anyone assist? Billie Lovett
