Brian- As several folks will tell you, you should eventually get on the Rootsweb-Hesse site. However, the answer is the same. You likely already know that you ancestor, as Johann Phillip Wissmann is listed on the LDS Family search with a birth date of 25 Aug. However, that is likely the christening date so your's is probably correct. Unfortunately, the listing is a contribution from a family member so one cannot know how real it is or on what facts it is based. You will need to go into the browse categories, locations and eventually places on the Familysearch website to get the number of the LDS microfilm of the appropriate church in Darmstadt. Once you get that by ordering it at your local family history center you spend a few weeks pouring over the tape. Its very frustrating but, ultimately very rewarding. Good luck.
