    1. [PFALZ] Gimbsheim Germany Trip - by Helen Kimmel Orndorff

    3. Just saw the subject posting and reply of your trip to subject town. That is a very small town, and has no historian. It does have a church shown on the Atlas. The suggestions you got are good, except we take exception to your being advised to use Frankfurtas an operating base. The reason is that Gimbsheim is due south of the large city of Mainz (that city is quite a piece west of Frankfurt). Since you will be driving from Frankfurt, go west to Mainz, and make that your operation center. Then take Highway 9 south going through towns of Oppenheim, and to Guntersblum, there a road goes off to the southeast (left) about3 km you are in Gimbsheim. The atlas shows a Church, and possibly the priest or minister will let you look at the church records. The town is too small to have a historian. Bob is correct in suggesting that you avail yourself of the network of the Deutsche Bundesbahn. It is cheaper, and easier than trying to find your way around driving any distance. Have a good trip. Al and Margaret.
