Hello, Yesterday I downloaded, installed and run the brand new PAF 5 program. The new surface is quite attractive and the possibilbility of defining own data-entry templates has been attended for a long time. Now I ruefully came back to PAF 4. The new feature of single line names with a slash before and after the surname produces a major bug with names ending with 'ß' like 'Wambsganß'. The program converts the ending 'ß' into 'ss' but adds additional signs (ASCII NUL and others). The combination 'ß/' seem to create not forseeable escape-sequences. One could ask now: Why don't you just change the endings of your names from 'ß' into 'ss' ? This is a good question but you can also ask: Why should I use a program which is not able to cope with names existing for centuries ? And there are programs which can cope with such names like PAF 4. Regards Ernst Dierich.
