Is there someone on this list that could please translate this phrase for me? Pirmasens Evaneliscue und Militar I found "und Militar" in my German American Dictionary as "and Miliary". I could not find Pirmasens Evaneliscue listed in Ernest Thode's German - English Genealogical Dictionary. Would appreciate any help. Hi Janet, I have a number of ancestors who came from there. The actual word is Evangelische; there is no such word as Evaneliscue - it is either a misread or misprint. It does mean Evangelical, or in America, Lutheran.
