Hi Folks: I am searching for information on a Georg Leonhard Walter who immigrated to the USA in 1852 or 1853. I need to find his village's name and the ship name he came on.. He was a Lutheran and was literate. I have not been able to get this info after many years of searching because I was searching Baden info. US census data has him from Baden at one time and Bavaria another. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Jim Walter
Dear Jim, I have forwarded your info on to my sister, who married into a WALTER clan. They have some genealogical records and will do some looking for you. I know that her clan is Catholic, but, some people converted once here, or married into the faith in the States. She may get back to you personally. When and where do you first find him in the USA? When do your sources indicate he was born? > He was a Lutheran and was literate. Have you found him only in two Census? Was he married in the USA an have you found his marriage record? Have you found the birth records o any children? Have you looked in FamilySearch and on rootsweb.com and Googled for him? When you give us answers to the above questions we can give you suggestions on where to look to get more information. bob gillis
