I've been in touch with the list manager of the German (not Rootsweb) Bavaria list, and he has been very kind in advising me of two things. he states; "But "Dunheiffer" or "Dunhoff" are not known. I suppose, that this mean in German "Tanh?er" or "Thanhofer" - the pronunciation is in German in some way similar to the American "Danheiffer"." he also sent me to an interesting site which may help someone else on the Pfalz lists. http://christoph.stoepel.net/Geogen-localized-en.aspx it doesn't show where people were then, but if you're looking for where someone may be from today, it can help. now if I could find one for Alsace... I hope this information is of help to someone. it is good to know about the D/Th interchange. there are others, I know, but they don't come to mind at the moment. Cornelia
