My ancestor came from Germany (possibly from the Pfalz-L area which covers the Palatine or Pfalz region or from Baden?). He arrived on the ship "NEPTUNE" at the port of Philadelphia 4 October 1752 from Rotterdam. It is believed that my ancestor "Johann Georg JUNG" (b: about 1730/1740; d: 1789 Concord, Mecklenburg, North Carolina) arrived with a friend "Hans John Michael GOODNIGHT/ GOODKNECHT/GUTKNECHT". They did not remain in Pennsylvania very long as Johnann Georg JUNG/YOUNG appears in a land deed in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in 1762. It is unknown if he married his wife "Ann" in Germany or if he married in the United States in either Pennsylvania or North Carolina. It is believed most of their children (Andrew, Michael, Jacob, John, Martin, Elizabeth, Mary YOUNG) were born in Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina. By 1800 some of Johann Georg JUNG/YOUNG's children were located in Kentucky and later some moved to Indiana. I am seeking to find where in Germany Johann Georg JUNG/YOUNG was born and possibly names of his parents. I will appreciate any assistance or advice you can give me in this effort. Thank you. Marjorie, I did not research the Jung name, but I did find a mention of a couple of Jungs in my file of Catholic records from Klingenmünster that I have transcribed. Probably doesn't mean anything to you, but just in case here it is: On 13 July 1783 Margaretha Jung married Johann Müller. She was probably born before 1768. Her father was Laurence Jung. Her mother was Barbara [no maiden name available]. She was a Lutheran, although the groom was Catholic, and her family came from the town of Oberhoffen. The witnesses were Johann Schumacher and Heinrich Hoffman. Oberhofen is just south of Klingenmünster a little ways. They are both north of Bad Bergzabern, which is just north of the French border west of the Rhein. It appears that by this date your ancestors were already in the US, but maybe a search of the LDS IGI records of Jungs from Oberhoffen would give you some ideas. It occurs to me that at some point there was a Governor of the Klingenmünster area named de Jungker, appointed by the Palatine Elector I believe. Good luck.
