    3. Looking for origins of Johann Michael GuthmannGutman born abt. 1694 who came to America supposedly in the 1720's with wife Maria Catherina Reigner/Reignerin (?) and settled in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. Johann Michael died 1 Dec. 1755 in Lehigh Co. He and Maria were supposed to have entered the country through Philadelphia, Penn. Johann may have been a furrier/fur trader and hatter by trade. Know of no passenger records ever found of him. His wife may have been sister to Christian Reigner, also of Lehigh Co. Any leads or clues appreciated. Thanks sherry goodman dustyc@microgear.net

    1. [PFALZ] Thanks!

    3. Thanks to everyone who helped me with the translation of an old German note that apparently belonged to my grandmother or g-grandmother: Mary Ross Kay Philpot Marianne Kessler Bert Knupp John C. Heiby Pauline Spring Maggie Martin Hainz Pannenberg Werner Lichter The note turned out not to be a personal document, but rather a bit of inspirational religious text. In case anyone else is interested, here's Mary Ross's translation. Recipe: Put together from the writings of the honorable Dr. Bernhard, a famous herbdealer of St Franciscus Salesian To be in good health take the root of faith, green leaves of hope, roses of love, incense of atonement, myrrh of denial, wood of the cross. Tie it together in the bundle of surrender into the will of God. Put it into the vessel of devotion and water it with the wine of cheerfulness and with the water of temperance and set the vessel on the fire of God's love so that everything will cook to completion. After that, set it in the cool place of contemplation, close it with the seal of silence and when you then take a cup of this precious drink early in the morning and late at night, you will gain the health which I wish you and God implores for you. Given in the Apothecary in the fullness of the love of that One whose side was pierced for us, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Heinz Pannenberg also provided a slightly different full translation. Thanks again to all! Hank Mooney hmooney@mfi.com Surnames: Ley, Lee (both Germany)

JOHANNES GEORG OPFFER The origins of this man were at 5419 URBACH ( 5km sw of Raubach). File # 70-7-6 in the Fürst Wied Archiv in Neuwied records the emigration tax paid by subjects in Amt Dierdorf to America or Russia, one of whom was Johannes Georg Opffer from Urbach.Mentions his passage on the Minerva. One Georg Orffer (?) was buried 6 May 1792 (New Gossenhoppen Ref. CHBK.) Good hunting, Kay-- Genealogy without documentation is mythology!

I noticed this because a neighbor when I was growing up in Northern Wisconsin was ALBRECHT. I won't be viewing records again until next week, but I'll be glad to check for your names. Lorch is on the Rhine River in Hessen-Nassau North of Bingen about 15 miles and South of Koblenz about 25 miles.
