Hello You can find one Pfalz Dietz family in the village of Staudernheim, near Bad Kreutznach on the Nahe river, in the 1600-1750 and later time period. Look at Tepper, "New World Immigrants," which you should be able to get via interlibrary loan if it isn't at hand. I am descended from Barbara Dietz, daughter of Nicolaus Dietz of Staudernheim, who married Johann Wilhelm Fey and immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1742, but I know little else of that side of the family. _____________________________ David Foy -----Original Message----- From: Joseph Kaemerer [mailto:towjoe42@wwdb.org] Sent: Wednesday, April 26, 2000 8:01 PM To: PFALZ-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PFALZ] DIETZ Surname, Westfalen & Rhineland-Pfalz, circa 1700s i have some dietz's. do not know anythinh brfore thest events. joe My name is Joseph Kaemerer. It is a little bit confusing because Pfalz belonged to Bavaria in former times (see www.krebs-onl.de/pfalz/owner.htm) and FHL is treating the situation from 1870. It is now Rheinland-Pfalz, the area is called Rheinhessen. And to make it more complicated: FHL is handling the situation in 1870 and this means Kreuznach to be in the Prussian Province Rheinland. > Does anyone on this list know if the Bad Kreuznach church or civil records > (I'm looking for the period 1775-1850 which is NOT on FHL microfilm) would > be in B.K. or would they be somewhere else? I would assume civil records starting somewhere in 1800 to be in Bad Kreuznach. You should have a call to Verbandsgemeindeverwaltung Bad Kreuznach +49 671/910, ask for Standesamt and inquire for the records. I have traced my DIETZ line to the Raubach, Rhineland-Pfalz area around the late 1600's and to the Niederschelden, Siegen, Westfalen area from 1700 on. Is anyone researching the DIETZ surname in either of those areas and times? If so I would really like to explore the possibilities that we might be researching the same line. Thanks. Dereck L. Dietz dietzdl@ameritech.net
Hi Gary. What is Brillmeyer's Rheinhessen? This book sounds very intriguing. What is the area it covers and does it list info on all small towns? How does one look up this information on their own? What reference materials does one need? Thanks in advance for your answer. The church records for these towns are at Speyer, Pfalz. This is a big repository for records. If you write to them it must be in German. Have you checked the FHL films for the specific towns? They go back that far for Knittelsheim and are written in Latin/German and the civil records are in French/Latin/German. -- Ed & Gaycha Mayhew Root searching -Martens,Muhl,Wohlenberg,Rueffel,Gardner,Rich On Tuesday, April 25, 2000, muriel schwartz <mdschwar@smig.net> wrote: >Hello; >I am trying to get the addresses of the churches mentioned. Just received email today there are TWO Offenbauch's TWO Landau's the one I need is almost to the border of France in Rheiland Pfalz and not across the River from Frankfort. I should have gone to Stuttgart instead. Better to know now, instead of traveling just to get pictures and never finding anything. Now I will need a Bus to Landau ? Ferdinand Harless/Horlos b 1680 Muhflohen Germersheim John Philip Harless and Anna Preisch marry 1738 leave for American on their Honeymoon. Down the Rhine to Holland Winter Galley Ship to PA (guess this is were I became confused with Offenbaugh - The one I need is so small that it is not on any of my maps) Thanks a million to the man who told me this today! Weibenkirechburg: Catherine Moser married John Harless in America - do not have to find this one.
Greetings, fellow Pfalz researchers! I'm leaving soon (May 2) for a trip to Germany; it will include a trip to the Speyer Archives to research some records from the Pfalz. I have already made my appointment, and my lovely German friends have agreed to escort me and translate for me. However, I have learned that the records for Bad Kreuznach are NOT in Speyer. A closer look at the map reveals that Bad Kreuznach is technically not in Rheinpfalz, but in NiederRhein. (I looked at this map: http://www.schleswig-online.de/laninger/Pfalz1818.htm) Does anyone on this list know if the Bad Kreuznach church or civil records (I'm looking for the period 1775-1850 which is NOT on FHL microfilm) would be in B.K. or would they be somewhere else? Is there another list I should be subscribed to for B.K.? :-( Any help you can provide is very much appreciated. It zounds familiar but I don't remember it. I have an ancestor Mary FRANK noted to be from Prussia. In a remote corner of the page someone wrote the individuals name with "Muntz", written below it. Could anyone give an informed opinion of what I may conclude from this unspecific note Danke, devt@web tv

Hello; I am trying to get the addresses of the churches mentioned. Bellheim, Germersheim and reformed churches in the area. I am looking for the name of KREMBS now and during 1680-1710. Now to see if any Krembs are still in the area also and also if back in 1680(when Grfather was born and to 1710 when he came to NY) I am trying to find his parents. He was married about 1704 to a Appolonia Lowrance. I do hope someone can help me. I am so tired of Brick walls. Thank you all. Muriel
