    1. [PFALZ] Need help composing follow-up church archive letter in German
    2. Nancy M. Atkinson
    3. I am in the process of composing a follow-up letter to a German Church Archive. They recently sent me an extract of my 2nd great-grandfathers baptism record from their churchbooks. Please could someone help me compose a brief request, in German, for the archives to check their Birth/Christening registers for records of possible siblings of my 2nd-great grandfather and/or possible children born to my 3rd great-grandmother? My 2nd great-grandfather was born illegitimate, therefore I cannot ask the archives to check for a marriage record since I don't know my ancestors father's name. Regards, Nancy M. Hi Jessie....... I too have some Henn genealogy from Nova Scotia. Mine left Berschweiler, (near Kirn and about 20 miles east of Kaiserslauten) in 1760 and ended up in South Carolina. When the American Rev. War started the older sons went to Florida and joined the British army. In the 1780s they were removed to NS. Does any of this sound like yours? I am attaching FGS of the older settlers. 3. I have two generations of ancestors who served as estate managers (villici) in a place currently called Hengstbacherhof (near St. Albans between Bad Kreuznach and Kaiserslautern). Their names were Wedelin MORCK and his son Johann Christian MORCK and they served as managers in the late 1700's and early 1800's. At the time this place was named Heinsbach (Heingsbach) or Hengstbacher Hofe. I am interested in knowing if anyone knows of sources for research into this estate. Gary duf@ntplx.net

    2. gary dufel
    3. I have traced my SPIRA ancestry backed to the 1500's in Sponheim. I learned that Jakob SPIRA was the 30th abbot of the monastery in Sponheim and he officiated there from 1559 to 1564. He turned the monastery over to Prince Elector Friedrich III and Count Philibert von Baden when Protestantism was introduced into the area. Jakob then married Beatrix, who had been abbess of the nearby covent of St. Katharinen in Braunweiler. Beatrix apparently belonged to a noble family and owned a house in Odernheim. I would like to learn the family name of Beatrix and the history of St. Katharinen's. Can anyone offer some possible resources for research? Gary duf@ntplx.net
