Hello, I am new to this list and wondered if anyone lives in the Pfalz area of Germany? My Doll ancestors are from Erzweiler and I am looking for someone who lives in the area to take a picture of the village for me. Also, the "field church" at Ulmet is where all the Doll children were baptised (southwest of Erzweiler); would like to have a picture of that, too. Hope to hear from someone on this and thanks. Hello: I don't know if I'm on the right list or not. I'm looking for any info on the following: JOHAN CHRISTOPHEL SCHAKE b. 1714 Palatinate, Germany d. 1796 Penn. married BARBARA ? b. abt. 1714 ? d. 1771 Penn. He came to America on the Snow called Molly. He is my husbands 6th greatgrandfather. We would like to find his parents and any other reletives. Also learn something about his life there and possible where his ancestors came from. Thank you for any help or ideas. Merry
Hi Jackie, Are your Reiss ancestors from Pfalzdorf, Plaggenburg or Neu Isenburg? I have several in my genealogy. Regards, Fritz H. Hi Listers, I am researching THOMSER family which was Roman Catholic and which migrated from western Germany around 1848-50. A member of the family is in Baltimore, MD in the 1850 census. On the IGI, there is a Catholic person with that surname born in Birkenhoerdt, Pfalz, Bayern. When I checked a map site online, I got the message that the place did not exist. Does anyone have any knowledge of where this town is(was)? Jackie Reiss
Marian ( and others)- If one puts each of those villages into Shtetlseeker and sets Flomborn as the reference point (the origin point that I have for the Dietrichs in my genealogy), one get the following distances (in miles) from Flomborn: Kottweiler = 32 Schwedelbach = 28 Dietschweiler = 37 Kirchmohr = 34 Niedermohr = 35 Schrollbach = 35 Glan-Munchweiler = 36. Thus, I think a connection is possible for a family of school teachers and might be worth pursuing. RE: Dietrich.Dieterich/Dederich Marian- I do not see an immediate connection but I would have to look over a map to see just how close the places are. I know the standard line is that everyone married their next door neighbor and folks did not travel much. My Hausmann line is proof that this was not always the case, moving quite a bit themselves and marrying across Duchies. I think this is likely true of most professionals and tradespeople. For better or for worse, they were simply more mobile than the farmers. It is interesting that they share the same profession school- teaching. Did you see a Wilhelm or Johann Karg in your search? He is my distant grandfather whose descendants have settled in VA/WV and quite possibly have come full circle in residence, as migrations go. Thanks for any help.

Hi, all. I am trying to locate relatives of Johann Schopp, an artist who probably worked on a US Army base in or around Bonn. He signed his paintings Johann Schopp, Unkel as Reich, 1945. I would like to reunite the family (or artist) with his art. The paintings were found by a friend clearing out a deceased relative's home. We both think the reunion is the right thing to do. Can I get any help -- especially from our German friends? Mary Ann Unger
Looking for exact German surname for Joseph Christian Vatter (or at least that is what we believe the spelling of the surname was, maybe with two dots over the a) The name was anglicised to Vetter, Fedder, Fether, then Feather, all depending upon who wrote it down. Joseph and his wife Maria ______, their son Jacob, and we believe their daughter Anna Clarissa immigrated to Philadelphia in 1775 aboard the King of Prussia. Jacob was born in Germany September 10, 1759 near Frankenthal. They were of the Lutheran faith. Without the exact German spelling of the surname, it makes it almost impossible to do German research. Many volunteers will look up information, but one has to have the spellings correct. Many church records of this area have been mirofilmed by the LDS church, but I'm not exactly sure what name to look for. I'm hoping someone on this list has access to some records that can find the birth above. Finding this German name may very well lead to finding some cousins in Germany. That would be wonderful. Can anyone assist? Billie Lovett
I am seeking information on the following surnames, in the Frankenthal area, in the 1700-1800's Breuer, Faust, Roos, Vogel, Drescher, Pfeiffer, Schoeppler all, believed, to be Roman Catholic. I have information on the following surnames, in the same area & religious persuasion; Dekinder/Deguenther, Mueller/Muller, Weibert, Diehl, Blanck, & Karg. I've posted this message before, but felt a last attempt might be worthwhile. Is anyone on the list researching the Dietz families of Hinterweidenthal Zweibruchen? I believe I've copied about everything I could find from the LDS films that had the name Dietz in it. Would be happy to share. Would be THRILLED to connect with someone working on my line. The founding father of our line was Conrad Dietz. His father's name was Johannes Dietz. Thank you in advance for any response. Karen Deeds-Jarvie B.G., Ohio
