While I was growing up, the only information I had was that he was born in Alsace-Lorraine. He may have had a French surname, but he was extremely proud of his German heritage. He married my great grandmother on February 10, 1891 in Buffalo New York, and the information on it states that his place of birth was Scheidt Bavaria. 3. The problem with this site is that whoever owns it is linking to free sites without the permission of the owners of these sites and charging a fee to view them. Is it illegal, or a scam?? I don't know, but it certainly goes against the principles of those of us who voluntarily transcribe and post information to the internet with the intention that the information be freely available to researchers.

    3. Hello I hope that others have better luck than I did with this information site. Several years ago I sent my emigrant family (NEUBRECHT) information to the Institute and asked if they had additional family information. I enclosed addressed envelope , and payment . I did not receive the courtesy of a reply. I later spoke to Herr Roland Paul , the director of the Institute. Herr Paul indicated that they were busy and he would look into the matter. I has now been over two years and I have heard nothing further. I have also talked to others who have had the same experience.
