    3. The e-mail address for Fred Held was rejected as not being valid. In his message he provided three hyperlinks: The first ws for the oneline card catalog for the LDS Family Library. We would appreciate being given the step by step directions to get to the page with the card catalogs. The second hyperlink gives you "Genealogie im Saarland" which is in the German Language only. (this is no problem for us as we are knowledgeable in reading, writing, and speaking that language. It does however state: Feel free to; send inquiries in English to the author of this page. We looked it up and it is mailto:kberndt@ur.pils.de the ending "de" tells us that he is in Germany (the Saar being a state of Germany) therefore, you should get some good results, Johanna St. Clair, by learning from him where to find the data that you want on Bliessen. 3. Johnna, Most of our ancestors were not land owners, since the property was owned by the king, duke, or some other ruler. The best you can usually do is find entries in the church records for baptisms, marriages, and deaths. In the regions where Napolean went through, which includes this region of Saarland, there are also civil records. You can get to those records at your local LDS Family HIstory Center. The LDS Family History Library online card catalog (http://www.familysearch.org/Search/searchcatalog.asp) shows both church and civil records for Blieson. The Bliesen you want would be the one listed for Rheinland Prussia. (To read the history of the area go to the German Genealogy website - http://www.genealogienetz.de/gene/reg/SAA/saarland-d.html or http://www.rootsweb.com/~deusaa/.) I have tracked down my ancestors born there in 1813, and would like to see if I could find some land records and things like that. I looked for information on the Saarland Page, but I think Bliesen is very small. I didn't find much on it. Does anyone know of a website for the village I could check out. Perhaps the address of the Village Office or something like that? Maybe a museum of local history? Thanks in advance, Johnna St. Clair

    3. One of the editions of the publication GERMAN GENEALOGICAL DIGEST, editor Larry O. Jensen, had a listing of French genealogy words. Off hand I don't remember the edition, but I believe it was back in the early 1990's. Perhaps your local LDS FHC has this publication & you could find it. Also it's possible the FHC has a handout (for small fee) that has the info you want. Joanne -----Original Message----- From: Sarah J. They also have their French Genealogical Word List, a 12 page pamphlet (as well as other language lists) for sale for 50 cents. You can order on line or call their 800 number. 3. When I was in Speyer attempting to do research, the person in charge of the archives suggested that I contact the LDS as they had filmed all their records. Based on that, have you gone to a FHC? May save you a few bucks. You can check on www.familysearch.org and see what they have available that you could have brought into your local FHC. Good luck with your search. Priscilla

    3. Re: Institut fuer Pfaelzische Geschichte und Volkskunde Having been there, yes, you could possible find something, my suggestion would be to have a member of the Pal-Am German 2001 Trip take your request over for you. The index itself rests in a room about 10 x 20, and the Librarian is not comfortable in English. We were encourage to leave inquiries in the Inquirey index, for the outside chance someone would visit and find our messages and make connections. But I dont think from what she said they are really equipt to handle lookups. 1. [PFALZ] German Bank Information
    2. Hello Everyone: I am new to the list, and I hope someone can help me with this question. I am attempting to obtain information from the Diocesan Archive in Speyer about my ancestors who came from Rheinland-Pfalz. I was told to transmit payment for the research effort to the Konto (account) of the: "Bischoflichen Finanzkammer, Konto Nr. 5 05 04, Haushaltsstelle 2.06101.161000 bei der LIGA Speyer (BLZ: 750 903 00)" I assume LIGA is the name of the bank, but I do not understand what "Haushaltsstelle" and "BLZ: 750 903 00" refer to. If anyone on the list could help me understand this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much! Paul C. Miller

    1. [PFALZ] St. Ingbert-Quirin/Stief
    2. We arrived at the Institut fuer pfaelzische Geschichte 5 minutes after it closed this July, so I have been reading the comments with interest. I am seeking to put together more information on Peter P. Quirin who was born in St.Ingbert in April 1835. In the Standesamt in St.Ingbert we were able to get the names of his parents Johannes u. Barbara Schweissthal and siblings. I am presetnly working on a microfilm from St. Ingbert. He is said to have settled in St. Clair , PA in 1853. I am curious as to with whom he went to the U.S.A. and when.and would also like to reestablish a connection with relatives in St. Ingbert. The Quirins who responded to my letters do not believe they are related. Any relatives ou there? Grace Whealan
