    3. Hello List, I am new to this list and hope some kind soul will be willing to help me because I have very little information to proceed with. With that said, here is what I do know. My father John HUTCHESON was in the US Army in Baumholder between 1956 and 1959. He was in Headquarters Battery 56th Field Artillery, a part of the 8th Infantry Division. During that time he was in what appears to be a long-term serious relationship with a woman named Olga, I do not know her last name. I recently received, upon my grandmothers death, many pictures and letters written to her by my father and Olga while he was stationed in Germany. These letters and other information lead me to believe there was a male child born to them at some point during this time. They did not marry and Olga did not come to the US that I know of. I know this is a long shot but it is worth a try. If I do have a brother or sister there I would love to find him or her. I am also interested in finding out if Olga is still alive. I would love to contact her as she may have information about my father. Here is hoping!!! 3. I appear to have over edited myself here. I meant to say it refers to those who were *to be* Confirmed, i.e. what we Catholics call Candidates. The word appears in Duden's _Die Rechtshreibung_ and in numerous online descriptions of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Thank you to those who wrote me offline pointing out that clarification was needed. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Lesmeister [mailto:mmeister@houston.rr.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 11, 2000 2:59 PM To: PFALZ-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [PFALZ] Seelenbuch Firmlinge is a word itself. 3. Hello Again Everyone: I went through the St. Wendel records at my local FHC two days ago and did not see a single one of my ancestors who are named: KÖENIG, BACKES, SHEID from Bliesen. St. Wendel would be the logical place for them to worship, or at least have baptisms and marriages, etc. as it is only 3 miles from Bliesen, but alas not a sign of them. Then, someone was very kind to send me excerpts from a of Familienbuch which had them in St. Remigius parish. Where is this place? Is it in Bliesen? I searched the LDS site for St. Remigius, but nothing came up. Maybe it is called something else on the index? Any suggestions or ideas? Johnna St. Clair !!!see below for German translation courstesy of Babel Fish:!!! Johnna St. Clair

    1. Re: [PFALZ] Meisenheim
    2. Alfred J. Spiry, Sr.
    3. Vernon: You are correct, in that Meisenheim is located on the Glan River, but the name of the state is Rheinland Pfalz. Meisenheim is located due north of Kaiserslautern 4l km on Highway 270 to Lauterecken from there you take Highway 420 11 kilometers to Meisenheim. The Postal Code is 55590. There is a church at the south end of town. Churches were the only organization that kept the records of births, marriages and deaths of their members, either Catholic or Protestant. The answer is you cannot get the records of your ancestors who emigrated from there in either Hesse or Rheinland Pfalz. The best place to get the information is on the microfilm of the church records at the LDS Family Library. The most accurate information on your ancestors will be contained on those films. While some LDS film data is available on the Internet the best place and most up to date and correct listing is to be found at your nearest Mormon Temple where it includes a Family History Library. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vernon Ritter" <vkritter@htc.net> To: <PFALZ-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 27, 2000 11:48 PM Subject: [PFALZ] Meisenheim > Meisenheim is on the Glan River in what I believe is the Rhein Pfalz, > but the Congress of Vienna gave the District of Meisenheim to the Duke > of Hesse Homberg.
