Hello, I am new to this list and am seeking information on researching in Germany. My ancestors came to The States during the Palatine movement in December 1764, after Johann Heinrich Christian, calling himself, Sieur De Stumpel tricked them, along with about 400 others, into thinking they were going to Nova Scotia. Anyway, I believe Georg Feltmann and his wife Elizabeth Kleeman Feltmann, along with their children came from the Frisian Islands. Here is where the problems begin; I can't find any good maps or information on the governmental structure of the islands. I don't know if they are comparable to our states or counties and have centers of government, or would I have to go into mainland Germany to research. At this point I don't know which island they originated from, but I plan to go to Germany next spring to research. Can someone who is familiar with the Frisian Islands advise me on the best location to start my research? Thank you very much, Jerry Feltman Alabama USA

My gg-grandmother was Charlotta ROTHHAAR b. 15 Jan 1861 in Dellfeld. She died 1930 in Forty Fort, Luzerne Co, Pennsylvania. She married Adam GLAHN on 21 Sept 1882 in Contwig. He was born 19 Mar 1861 in Dellfeld. I have his name line back as far as it can go, to the 30years war. Their 1st child, my g-grandfather, Adolf GLAHN was b. in Dellfeld 12 Jan 1882. There are a lot of ROTHHAARs in Dellfeld and surrounding villages. Can anyone fit my Charlotta into their family? Man darf mir auch auf Deutsch antworten! I have a question about the Archives at Speyer. Is it possible to write to them for information? Does anyone know if the LDS church has in its files ALL the info at Speyer? Has anyone had success contacting the Speyer Archives? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you. Kathy bigelow@teleport.com

Are you familiar with the info in Ann Burgert's Book "The Northern Kraichgau." It concerns STEPHAN REBBERT. The name on the ship's list appears as Raper, Reppert. Good hunting Kay -- Genealogy without documentation is mythology! -- Genealogy without documentation is mythology!

Not exactly what you're looking for... My mother's maiden name was BAPPERT also from the Palatinate. I read about a year that the "ERT" suffix on names indicates the person usually came from the S.W. (Rhineland Palatinate) part of Germany.

Again, any >info would be appreciated. I am not quite sure what tradition you are referring to. If you go to the LDS web site and do a place search you will find that there has been a Reformed (Calvinist) Church in Katzweiler since the 17th century. LDS, at least, has no film record of a Roman Catholic Church so there might not have been one. If you go to the HESSEN web site and click on the table of links you will find a place that leads you to the individual web sites for various towns in Germany. I have not checked to see if Katzweiler has one but likely someone has done so. http://home.mmcable.com/bornagain/hessen/index.htm Good luck! Guten Tag! Could anyone provide any information on Katzweiler,a small town just north of Kaiserslautern? I would be interested really in any information, including any genealogical resources specific to Katzweiler. My understanding is that the town was traditionally all Catholic. Again, any info would be appreciated. Thanks to all -- Paul Kieffaber
Good morning listmembers, I just 2 days ago discovered my maternal great grandfather [KASPAR BITTINGER] and grandfather [PHILLIP BITTINGER] were born in Eimsheim and my great grandmother [KATHARINA SPIESS] was born in Dolgesheim. Searching LDS film was to no avail as I previously thought they were born in Guntersblum. Anyway, I noted while looking up film for Eimsheim and Dolgesheim that they were in Hessen not Pfalz, but other sources place them in Pfalz. Which is correct? Please and thank you, Beverly Mack Zanon
Has anyone run across the Reppert surname? At least three Repperts (Stevus Reppert) (Daniel Repert) (Peter Rappert) came to America between 1727 and 1782....At least two of these gentlemen came from thePalatinate...

Hi James, I have a booklet containing the residents of Bad Bergzabern A.D. 1200 - 1616. Would a lookup help or is it to early. Kay -- Genealogy without documentation is mythology!
Where would one write to concerning persons being born in Gaugrehweiler during the early to mid 1800s? Thanks. Lorman lpw74@home.com Visit my home page at http://members.home.net/lpw74

Bliesen 1987 I have purchased Rolf Freytag's CD Collection Familienbucher von Rudi Jung which covers this area up to 1814. Hello My g-grandfather, Mathias Gallitz was born 14 Mar 1834 in Utzenhain (Kr. Sanct Goar) Rheinland-Pfalz. He was baptized on 16 Mar 1834 at the Catholic church in Niederburg (Kr. Sanct Goar) Rheinland-Pfalz. Mathias' parents were Jacob & Anna Catharina (Bersch) Gallitz. The records for the church in Niederburg do not have a baptism or marriage record for Jacob or Anna. So they must have been from one of the surrounding villages. Does anyone know the name of the Catholic church in Niederburg??? Also trying to find the names of the Catholic churches in the following villages: Neuerburg (Kr. Bitburg) Beltheim (Kr. Simmern) Bremm (Kr. Cochem) Gaulsheim (Kr. Bingen) Greimerath (Kr. Wittlich) Dieblich (Kr. Koblenz) Karbach (Kr. Sanct Goar) Enkirch (Kr. Zell) These villages are all fairly close to each other in the Rheinland-Pfalz. Thanks, Gerald Gallitz
