    1. RE: [PFALZ] Fraulautern
    2. Fred H. Held
    3. Marianne, The LDS Family History Library catalog (http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp) lists both Fraulautern (records starting in 1695) and Nachtsheim (records starting in 1660) as in Germany, Preußen, Rheinland. We must remember that Saarland is a fairly modern creation in Germany (see http://www.saar-genealogie.de/). Prior to that time this region was called Rheinland Prussia. BTW, that book is listed as in the FHL in Salt Lake City, UT, USA. Only microfilms and microfiche may be rented at your local Family History Center in Edmonton. You may order a lookup at the SLC FHL for specific pages (order the index first then followup with specific pages). I might add that that is not one of the Saarland books for sale at the Ludweiler Genealogical Museum in Saarland (http://home.t-online.de/home/bauernfeind.hermann/hkv-buch.htm). >Date: Mon, 13 Nov 2000 22:20:17 -0800 >From: "Marianne Kessler" <kessler@freenet.edmonton.ab.ca> >To: PFALZ-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [PFALZ] Fraulautern > >Where would I find Fraulautern in the parish district of Nachtsheim? > >I found "Fraulautern" in the Saarland and "Nachtsheim" in Rheinland Pfalz >which must mean that these are not the places I am looking for. I found "Fraulautern" in the Saarland and "Nachtsheim" in Rheinland Pfalz which must mean that these are not the places I am looking for. The year would be 1794. I am at a loss and appreciate any help. I would also like to find an owner of the book "Die Einwohner von Fraulautern vor 1897" by Hans Peter Klauck for a possible look-up. Thank you very much in advance. Marianne

    3. I am new to the list and also a relatively new family history researcher. Relatives of my maternal grandfather left the Palatine area of Germany in the middle 1700s ? and went to County Kerry in Ireland. I am looking for any information about the HANS family from the Palatine area, their migration to Ireland and later to Canada in the 1840s/1850s period. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you. Norm Ellison Victoria, British Columbia

    1. Re: [PFALZ] LDS films in Germany
    2. W. David Samuelsen
    3. Not quite. it depends on each church archives. Some don't care. Some do. You have to check the Family History Library Catalog (www.familysearch.org) for any restriction. They are always listed if there's restriction. I know for sure the Catholic parish records held at Trier are under such restriction. If the parish records were filmed at the parish office, they may or may not be restricted. good example are Saarbrucken, Zweibrucken and Homburg. Zweibrucken's Roman Catholic aren't restricted (they're from Bitsumarchiv Speyer) Homburg's Roman Catholic records are mixed. (Homburg is part of Saarland now) Sankt Michael's - from parish Sankt Andreas' - from Bistumarchiv Speyer while Saarbrucken's Sankt Johann: Roman Catholic - RESTRICTED - from Bistumsarchiv Trier Evangelical Kirche - not restricted - from Dusseldorf Archives A check on Kaiserslautern's Catholic -they are not restricted - from different archives. Saarbrucken, Homburg and Zweibrucken are very close to each other among the border with France. Really it depends on which archives the records came from. W. 2. Fred H. Held
    3. Otto, On the same IGI record where you found the marriage was a link to the LDS microfilm number of the microfilms of the church books in Landau where those data were obtained. The marriage record typically gives the father of the bride and groom and the village they were from. According to the Family History Library catalog, the Landau microfilmed church records for that church start in 1564. I'm not sure where you go in Germany to get LDS (Mormon) microfilms, but in the US we go to our local LDS Family History Center (everyone is welcome, whether you believe the LDS faith or not). I know there are LDS chapels in Germany where the microfilms may be rented, because I was a guest at one last summer in Schwenningen (V-S). Otherwise, you may be required to visit the Pfalz church archive in Speyer or even to the church itself. ( According to the German Genealogy webpage http://www.genealogy.net/gene/reg/RHE-PFA/rhein-p.html the archive has a webpage at http://www.evpfalz.de.) >Date: Fri, 10 Nov 2000 20:51:55 +0100 >From: o.felschen@t-online.de (o.felschen) >To: PFALZ-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [PFALZ] Velschen in Landau/Pfalz > >Hi all, >I`m new to this list and I´m searching for Elisabetha VELSCHEN who, according to >FamilySearch, in 1642 married Philips Jacob GENSSLINGER in Landau / Pfalz >evangelical. 3. Hi all, I`m new to this list and I´m searching for Elisabetha VELSCHEN who, according to FamilySearch, in 1642 married Philips Jacob GENSSLINGER in Landau / Pfalz evangelical. Has anybody come across her or across the name Velschen? Up to now I thought that about 1720-1730 in Salzbergen (now Niedersachsen) the name changed from Velt to Veltschen and Velschen (and later Felschen). Does anybody know how to get more genealogical information on Landau? Thanks, Otto

    3. I am new to this list, I am searching for my ggrandmother Maria Anna Schmidt, b. Sept. 29, 1840 or 41, from Schifferstadt, Canton Speyer, Rhenish, Baveria. She had a brother Martin, who changed his name to Smith after coming to the US. He settled in New York City or Brooklyn and later sent back for his Sister. I think Maria came to the US about 1858. In 1862 Maria Anna Schmidt married Philip List in the Lutheran Reformed Church on Suffolk St., New York City. Their first child Wilhiem Henirich List, was born Sept. 19, 1864 and baptized in the same Church. They moved to Detroit, Michigan about 1866. If anyone can find anything on this family it would sure help me to fill in more of my Family Tree. Thank you all. Ruth

Does the area known as the Palatinate in 1751 still closely resemble what is R-P today? 2. In my research, I have seen very, very few Nicola recorded. Go to http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/DEU/NIEDERSACHSEN.html and subscribe. Hint: many people will skip over messages with nondescriptive titles such as yours. Consider the fact that everyone on this list is doing an "Ancestor Search" and needs "HELP" (another nondescriptive title used often). The preferred format for the subject is SURNAME: place: date. BTW, a quick search on the LDS FamilySearch website indicates the only data thay have on the Reineberg family name are on a family from Oldenburg that settled in Indiana. There are several Oldenburgs in Germany. One Oldenburg is also in the province of Niedersachsen only 40 miles from Diepholz. -- Please use this address until further notice mailto:fhheld@netzero.net _______________________________________________ Why pay for something you could get for free?
