    3. I could not attend but my father’s youngest brother, Herb Petrie, my uncle was there. He is now 94 and I visited him this week in Christchurch NZ. Herb put our family tree together and has, some years ago passed the continuation of this on to myself. I have made a great breakthrough in locating a missing James PETRIE b.March 1839 in Keithhall, youngest child of George PETRIE. and Jean SHERRIFFS. Appears he was in NZ all of the time and well established in another random area. The crazy thing is that his descendant through a daughter and hence not born PETRIE, a girl, and my cousin’s daughter, born PETRIE were on almost adjacent farms growing up in a rural area and went through school together as buddies, and still are very best friends, had different surnames with no knowledge of any connection. The two girls parents, my cousin the son of Herb Petrie’s brother, and the neighbouring farmer were good friends and now know they are direct descendants of these two brothers born in Keith Hall/Keithhall, how crazy is that! It is a small, small world indeed. Would another PETRIE Gathering be planned in the future? It sounded like such a good time.
