    3. Hi Norma and fellow Petrie researchers, Norma, thus far I have been unable to go back any further with my David Petrie. I wonder whether your famous "data base" can help me? Kind regards. I will list what I know about him - David Petrie and Margaret Petrie (nee Porteous) were married on 17 November, 1815 at Old Machar, Aberdeen.[1] Margaret Porteous was the daughter of James Porteous and Margaret Porteous (nee Duff). The IGI records that David and Margaret Petrie had eight known children, one of which was my forebear, Robert Porteous Petrie. Children:. Keith Imray Petrie born 8 May, 1818 at Montrose. Robert Porteous Petrie born 26 June, 1820 at Montrose - further details below. Janet Petrie born 2 August, 1825 at Montrose. Mary Sherres Petrie born 10 June, 1828 (baptised 17 June, 1828) at Montrose. Margaret Napier Petrie born 21 November, 1830 at Montrose. David Petrie born 10 July, 1832 at Montrose. Sarah Eliza Petrie born 19 June, 1833 at Montrose. At age 48 she is shown in the 1881 Census Index for Montrose (Ref 312, Book 14, Page 1) as Head of House, Unmarried, Dressmaker, born Montrose. Jessie Petrie, actual date of birth unknown - however, in the 1881 census, a Jessie Petrie, unmarried, 45, dressmaker, born Montrose (i.e. about 1836) is shown as a visiting dressmaker in the household of Brotherton Castle, Benholm, Kincardine, and the 1851 census records : "1851 Montrose Forfar/Bk6/P14/Ent68/35 Wharf Street, Jessie Petrie/serv/um/15/House Sevant / St.Cyrus.
