My A-Z British road map book came to light in the bottom of a box I was sick of falling over and had decided to unpack! After talking about it on the list this morning and then it turning up this afternoon is a bit scarey. Looking at Fife and in particular Newburgh where I first find the above people, when May was christened (1828) made me wonder if I should broaden my search. My thinking is that they could have come from further north looking for work. I have searched the Newburgh OPR's with no other entries to be found. Following is the marriage entry in the Strathmiglo OPR's Nov 1850 WHYTE - James WHYTE in this parish and May PETRIE Parish of Auchtermuchty duly married. There is no corresponding entry in the Auchtermuchty OPR's that I could find. I just assumed that she and her parents lived there. Maybe that is not right and I should expand my area of search. With the 1841 Census for Auchtermutchty gone to Davey Jone's locker and them not being in the 1851 for either village I assumed (again) that they had died. I know this is all a bit disjointed but I feel like I have been rocked back on my heels. Any thoughts would be helpful at this point in time. Annette
