Hi Norma, Yes I am still here, but just keeping up to date, reading others messages, with a two year old my "spare" time is taken up with other things, catching up on the ironing mainly. Good to hear that Evelyns researches are going well. Evelyns mum Anne Hutton keeps me up-to-date on her progress. Evelyns Mum and my father are cousins. When i first started i was so keen and have a box of papers, copies of census records and all sorts but at the moment it is gathering stour. After watching the BBC series, Who Do You Think You Are? i have been thinking about starting my research again. But they seem to make it look easy! Bye just now. Kinds regards Sharon Petrie Strathmiglo, Fife. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Norma Thain" <norma.thain@balgavies.demon.co.uk> To: "Petrie-Scotland Mailing List" <petrie-scotland@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 25, 2006 3:00 PM Subject: [PETRIE-SCOTLAND] Roderick Petrie son of William Petrie & MaryMcKenzie, South Ronaldsay > Hello Evelyn > > Many thanks for sharing further information on your Petrie family..... > > >From my database records for the children of WILLIAM PETRIE & MARY McKENZIE > I find your GEORGE PETRIE born 1860 is new information for me, and I have > them with a son JAMES PETRIE born 01 September 1864 who is not amongst those > on your list. > > With regard to Roderick Petrie I show him as born c1871 and have transcribed > his marriage certificate...... > > Marriage Certificate Transcription > Ref: SOUTH RONALDSAY Page 1 Entry 2 > (source: Scottish Records Office) > > On 12 January 1911 > at Gillietrang, Burray > (after banns of Baptist Church) > > RODERICK MACKENZIE PETRIE > Fisherman > Bachelor > age 39 > of Midhouse, Burray > Parents: > WILLIAM PETRIE - Crofter > MARY PETRIE ms MACKENZIE > > SARAH KENNEDY COOPER > Farmers Daughter > Spinster > age 38 > of Gillietrang, Burray > Parents: > JOHN COOPER - Farmer > BETSY COOPER ms KENNEDY > > Witnesses: > WILLIAM WORLDRAGE > MARY SUTHERLAND McKENZIE > > ************ > > I also have the transcription of Joseph's birth and marriage certificates, > and the transcription of William & Mary's Marriage Certificate as I checked > them out at SRO for another researcher a few years ago.
