    1. Re: [Petrie-Scotland] Betty PETRIE
    2. Hello Annette in Sydney, The following was posted by Norma Thain some time ago. It seems to have some of the elements connected with the "Betty" Petrie you are tracing. Good luck. David Petrie Arden Hills, Minnesota, USA Another entry for possible relatives living on Helen Street also occurs in the 1901 census: "Arbroath 272 Book 26 Page 4; 69 Helen Street, Elizabeth Smith Petrie,, 67 years, head, annuitant, born St. Vigeans; Maggie Petrie, 24 years, flax warper, born St. Vigeans" Elizabeth Smith Petrie of 69 Helen Street, Arbroath appears to me to be Elisabeth Petrie (nee Smith) wife of David Petrie he died in 1882, I cannot fully prove the connection yet, but they did have 1 daughter Margaret Petrie whose age matches with that of the Maggie Petrie who is listed with Elizabeth in the 1901 census. The family including David are also shown in the 1881 census at 1881 ST. VIGEANS (272 d20/p37) David Petrie was the son of David Petrie & Jane Boath of Forfar (aka Jean Boath) Elisabeth was the daughter of Alexander Smith & Barbara Guthrie these details were found in their 1859 marriage certificate. Interestingly though, there is a known family connection between William Petrie/Rachel Beattie of 26 Helen Street, Arbroath & David Petrie/Elisabeth Smith of 69 Helen Street, Arbroath via David's sister Agnes Boath Petrie marrying David Robb, he was son of Marjory Wallace Petrie & James Robb. Marjory Wallace Petrie was the sister of the above William Petrie (spouse Isabel Mill)! These 2 families are connected to the Petrie line of researcher Isobel Jones of Isle of Man, but as far as I am aware she is no longer with the list." [Norma (Petrie) Thain]
