David Thanks for your reply. It looks great until I start doing the sums from the dates and disappointingly they do not correspond with mine, - unless (hopefully) my maths is wrong.. My May PETRIE was born 1828 in Newburgh and married James WHYTE 1850 in Strathmiglo and came to Australia in 1851. Betty (could be short for Elizabeth or Elspeth or somesuch) would have to have been born 1800 - 1813 or thereabouts providing May was one of her first born, but as I can find nothing on Betty and David other than the christening and the marriage of May I do not know if she was an only child or the start or the finish of the family.
