Hello Everyone!!! I'm not sure if I should use this Petrie search to ask this but I'm having no luck with certain families. I was wondering if anyone on here could help?? I was thinking about joining/signing up on a Family Search site but am not sure which one would be the most helpful to start with. Can anyone give me any suggestions? The countries I'm looking for information in are any of the British Isles, Canada & U.S, for Petries & other family names. Thanks in advance! Cyndy

Depending how far back you are , the best sites are the Petrie website containing the files for the Petrie`s, the IGI index at familysearch.org, Scotlandpeople wich you pay for but it does have the 1871, , 1891 1901census. and also the Freecen.com for the 1841 census for Scotland and the Moray index (sorry but cant find the addy for that one). If you have family from Peterhead try their site. Hope these help a little, but do post your other names, never know they may connect to other Petrie researchers. Thanks Katherine! I'll wait until I see if anyone else has suggestions & I'll give some of these sites a try. All the last names I'm looking for are Petrie, Brown (both from Scotland), Lampkin, Harker, Deaves, Blenkinsop, Kimmins (Kimmons, Kimmance), Gillings, (all England), Hunt (Canada or Ireland) & Langs (German, U.S and/or Canada). My Mum has had success with her side more than my Dad's side. The hardest ones are tracing Petries & Browns before they left Scotland abt. 1840-45, the Langs before the man left Germany & the Blenkinsops all together. It would be nice if I found relatives on here even if it's not under the Petrie line! : ) Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
