Hi Since I last wrote to you about William Petrie, I have sent for and read a copy of the film of the Premnay OPR at the local Family History centre, the following is a transcription, (1) of the marriage of Alexander and Janet Spence, (2) the baptism of their children and (3) the marriage of William to Ann Isaac, I think that this proves that "our" William Petrie's parents were Alex and Janet Spence, the two eldest children were born at Burnend, this is the address that William mentions in the Leith Hay papers, also note the witnesses, are John & James Petrie related to the family?, William and Ann Isaac had a son John James Petrie. Named William witnessed Thos Molyson, John Webster and Janet Webster PETRIE 1769, Oct 23rd Alexr Petrie in Newton of Premnay and his wife Janet Spence had a son Bapt named George, witnessed John Emslie, John Petrie, Alexr Rob and Mary Langston PETRIE 1774, Oct 26th Alexr Petrie in Newton of Premnay and his wife Janet Spence had a daughter named Helen, Witnessed John Petrie, Alexr Rob Helen Dainier?? And Jean Stephen Marriage 1788 PETRIE and ISAAC May 31st William Petrie and Ann Isaac both in this Parish their purpose of marriage having been orderly published were married OPR 234/2, LDS Film no 993356, transcribed 8 April 2006
