Hello All, I'm a newcomer to the list: My wife's GGG Grandfather was Andrew Petrie, who hailed from Kettle and made a name for himself in his architectural and exploratory ventures in the Moreton Bay Penal Colony (later, Brisbane). Her GG Grandfather, Tom, was born enroute to Australia, and cut out an existence as a grazier and explorer in the young Colony. Whilst Andrew's family have been well documented in Queensland, we'd be most interested to here from any who might be able to shed any light on the family prior to there emigration from Scotland in 1831, or who's line might be intertwined. I have derived most of my information for pre-1831 from IGI. Kind Regards, Mick Rockhampton, Queensland Australia Thomas Petrie (1831-1910) Elizabeth Campbell (1831 - 1926) Andrew Petrie (1798-1872) Mary Cuthbertson (1796-1855) Walter Petrie (1760- ) Margaret Hutcheson (1770- ) James Petrie (1731- ) Margaret Elder (1735- ) Walter Petrie Mary Wishart
Mick My son's partner is Jessie Petrie a direct descendent of Andrew Petrie. Her father is still alive and they have a tree and a book about Andrew Petrie and his family and exploits in Qld. He is very well documented. Let's know if you want me to put you in touch with Jessica or her Dad, Bill. Annette in Sydney - whose two little grandsons are in this tree!
