    3. Dear Harold, Many thanks for your information. I was very interested to read about the other Kirkmichael Petries. Do you know that there was a Robert Petrie (Christened Robertus) from Kirkmichael Perthshire, who moved up to the Banff area? He was a brilliant fiddle player and wrote many songs. I am involved at the moment with the Kirkmichael Session House (Perthshire) in trying to get more information about him. He moved up to the Moray Firth area to take a job with the Garden family of Troup House, which I think is somewhere near Gardenstown. It was at this time that he wrote many songs, including "Mrs Garden of Troup" which is quite well known. I have more information about his music if you are interested. He did marry, but I am not certain who his wife was - One of his songs was called "Mrs Robert Petrie" - he doesn't give her first name!!! He was born in 1767 in Kirkmichael, Perthshire. Wouldn't it be amazing if he turned out to be one of your ancestors!!!!! My ancestor Alexander Petrie (who was Christened in Carmyllie, Forfar on 27 September 1795) married Margaret Anderson on 10 August 1826 in Kirkmichael, Banff and had ten children there, between 1825 and 1844 - James Grant, Alexander, John, William, Robert, Geo, Charles, Andrew, Thomas and David. I have more information on this branch of the Petrie family which I could send you, if you are interested (any information you have would be of great interest to me).
