I live near Abdie which is about two miles from Newburgh and have been researching for my Petrie Ancestors who came from the Orkneys. Hello Evelyn I have about 20 MELVILLE folk in my tree, but they are mostly from different families. With regard to my PETRIE's they mostly come from Fife. My 5 x grt grandfather William PETRIE married a Margaret WILKIE, his 2nd wife. Unfortunately I have no confirmed details on her. I also have a Thomas WILKIE, married to a Janet Lambert WHITE, who was baptized in Newburgh, on 30 Oct 1831. His children were born in Cupar and Monimail. In the main, most of my MELVILLE's and WILKIE's are well off the main trunk of my tree. Apologies for the lateness of the reply. Have been away on holiday.
