    3. Hello to all - and a very special welcome back to Norma! I think everyone missed you! Norma - I'm not an orphan anymore! I posted my Bathgate Petrie tree at the MyFamily website... I have found this line only in Bathgate so far but have used only the most available resources. When time permits, I will dig deeper to see where they were before then! Almost all of the family living at the time relocated to Canada around 1871. Does anyone else have family in/from Bathgate for about a century prior to then? Greetings to all from Washington State! 3. Hello Kit It's great to be back and in touch with everyone again.... :o) I am delighted to read that you have found your Petrie connection in Bathgate, and I had a look at your family tree in our Petrie website.... did you find the relevant info from your Great Grandfathers Canadian death cert ? The details I have on the database for ALEXANDER PETRIE & JESSIE DUNCAN are mostly from the IGI noting their marriage in 1847 in Bathgate and the births of 6 children... from 1855 - 1866 and although your WILLIAM is not amongst them, the gap in births from 1847 through to 1855 and your findings does suggest that there may have been a number of other children for this couple who are not recorded in the IGI's. If you do not have the above family info please let me know, I'd be pleased to pass it on. It's worth noting that 1855 was the start of Birth, Marriage & Death registration in Scotland and only from then on were they obliged to officially register the birth of a child I do have a little information that you can add to your Petrie of Bathgate info.... one of William's brothers died as a baby...... this information gives you an address in Bathgate & and burial info that might be worth following up..... Death Certificate Transcription 1857 BATHGATE Page 50 Entry 150 (source Scottish Records Office) JAMES PETRIE died 28 November 1857 at 7.15 pm age 4 months Single at Whitburn Road, Bathgate Parents : ALEXANDER PETRIE - Master Plasterer JESSIE PETRIE ms DUNCAN Cause of Death: Not Certified Buried at Old Churchyard, Bathgate Death registered by ALEXANDER PETRIE (Father) ******* Amongst the children recorded for ALEXANDER & JESSIE, I can see they went on to have another son in 1863 who they also called JAMES. Hope some of the above is of interest. bibi norma ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kit Timmons" <scrap4heritage@msn.com> To: "PETRIE-SCOTLAND-L" <PETRIE-SCOTLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 30, 2006 4:39 PM Subject: [PETRIE-SCOTLAND] "My" Petries > Hello to all - and a very special welcome back to Norma!
