Hi Catherine I thought I was sending this information to Norma direct. It went on the the list instead (sigh). I hope I have not caused offense. I certainly want to share my research with the rest of the Petrie family but I would rather have not given as may notes. James Stirling, or Skirling as it has been recorded on the christening record, I got from the Latter Day Saints database as 17 JUL 1792 Panbride, Angus, Scotland. I have corrected the birth to abt Jul 1792 to reflect that. When I started adding people to my database I used christening dates if I did not have the birth date. I have now learnt how to record them seperately. The reference to you was from http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/PETRIE-SCOTLAND/2003-06/1054939270 and your contributions to the Petrie forum which sparked off my interest in the Petrie/Stirling connection, thank you. The story of the Stirling's' immigration to the Americas was fascinating & so sad at times. Other sites include: http://www.monikie.org.uk/stirling-news.htm and http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=080102bjl&id=I0314 which give information on the Stirling descendants. The information I have put together I am using as a framework which I am adding facts to as I get them and adjusting relationships where thew facts don't fit.I usually use a question mark after the name where I am having a wild guess! Can I take this opportunity to give a special thanks to my cousin David Rowe who manually researched the archives in Edinburgh some 30 years ago for the original births and marriages which formed the basic facts which gave me a starting point to extend from. My regards to Bonnie and sorry for using her name too. Bruce cstirlinggould@earthlink.net wrote: > Hi Bruce: Bonnie Petee brought to my attention the fact that she and I are > cited as sources below.
