Hi Jennifer I do not have any connection to Petries in Montrose, however, I am not discounting a connection as I do have early John Petries and I don't know who they married. Thanks for the info. Sometimes the big chunks of puzzle suddenly fit together as happened tracing my mothers side of the family. One birth certificate provided all the evidence for adding several generations to her line. I got rather excited at the time and, before you ask, I do have a life! Of course you may be connected to the Petries of Aberdeen shire or even Orkney & Shetland. Maybe some other Petries have some more chunks we can try to connect.
