Hi Bruce, I have some Petries who were in Monikie and also have a few who were married into Stewarts. Do you have any specific names and I will be able to check to see if it is the same line, best wishes, Stephen Petrie ----- Original Message ----- From: lademill<mailto:lademill@aol.com> To: petrie-scotland@rootsweb.com<mailto:petrie-scotland@rootsweb.com> Sent: 17 September 2006 20:50 Subject: [PETRIE-SCOTLAND] Petries of Monikie& Panbride Hello everybody good to see the Petrie forum spark into life. I am living in Scotland and am trying to connect Petries together rooted in Monikie & Panbride. I am also trying to find information on the bonnetmaking tradition that is still passed generation to generation through at least 4 generations to the present day (although nominaly now). Other connected names I am tracing are Stewart, Scotland, Davie & Mundie. Thanks again to those who have helped me so far, as a beginner. Hi Jenifer The Stewart connection is after my line left Monikie and lived in Monifieth: James Mudy Petrie born in Monikie married Isabella Burns (brought up in an orphanage) on 02/12/1853. Amongst their children was William Petrie born 14/9/1869 who married Helen A Stewart on an unknown date. This is the Stewart connection. All I know about Helen is that she came from a cottage in Helensburgh, she was Stewart of Appin and there is a Paisley connection. They had 2 children I know about: Robert B born 1901& Jean. Robert is my grandfather. I have gone further back with the Petries and I think they are connected to Alexander Petrie born around 1675 in Panbride & Isobel Miln who married about 1699. I am speculating that Alexander may have had brothers Andreu & John but nothing proven yet!.
