I am researching the Petrie line of our family tree. We actually have 2 different Petrie families in it. On one side, I have traced back to Andrew Petrie, born between 1831 and 1840 in “Arbroath, Forfar, Scotland” according to the information on the 1881 census, and “Forfarshire, Arbroath” on the 1891 and 1901 Censuses.  I have his death record which has the following information:   Andrew Petrie, shoemaker, Journeyman, married to 1st Catherine Beattie, 2nd Sarah Perry, Age 73 years [This would make him born around 1840, although his age on the census records would put it at about 1831 or 32]. Died 1913, April 1st 6 h. 45 m. a.m. 16 Harlaw Street, Glasgow Parents: Andrew Petrie, Enginefitter (deceased), Jane Petrie (McGregor) deceased   I cannot find Andrew’s birth record or any information on his parents. His "2nd" marriage was in Antrim, Belfast, Ireland to Sarah Perry, and their first born (Robert, our ancestor), was born in Belfast, Ireland. (His marriage document from Ireland lists him as a bachelor). They then moved to the Glasgow area, and I can follow the family from 1881 onward.   The other Petrie I have is Peter Petrie, Born 1785 in King Edward, Aberdeen Married to Ann Ogilvie 31 Dec 1814 in Aberdeen.  His Parents are listed as John Petrie and Elisabeth Anderson (married 1774?), which I believe are buried in New Deer. I have found Memorial Inscriptions for both in 1825. After several generations, both Petrie lines ended up in Dundee. Line-1: John Petrie (b.?, Aberdeenshire), Peter Petrie (b.1785, Aberdeen), James Wadsworth Petrie (b.1829, Aberdeen), James Petrie (b.1852, Aberdeen), Catherine Jane Petrie (b.1872, Dundee), Andrew Collin Petrie (b.1910 Dundee or poss. Edinburgh) Line-2: Andrew Petrie (b.?, ?), Andrew Petrie (b.abt 1833, Forfarshire, Arbroath), Robert Petrie (b.1865, Belfast, Ireland), Mary Petrie (b.1906, Dundee or poss.
