Alistair, There are two Anne Nicholl's married to Petries in my line and verified by Norma Thain. One matches the couple mentioned by Ian, but the other is nearer your date. The other Anne Nicholl married a William Petrie in1834 and had a son David, born 1836. She is my GGGM. Is this any help?
