Hi Dave Thank you for writing. I shall have a look through your notes. My Petrie's originated in Shetland but then moved over to the mainland. (tho we think they originated from Sutherland in the late 1500's) Interesting that you have Thomson as well, although that is my married surname. My Thomson family originate from Dunlop and Beethe (sp?) in Ayrshire and although they were a big family, I know very little of them. Some family think I am nuts trying to trace back family ! Presently, I am looking for information on two of my great grandmothers brothers - She was Margaret Petrie, b. 28 Jun 1847, Sandsting, SHI, SCT She had one sister, Barbara Petrie, b. 23 Jan 1843, Tingwall, SHI, SCT, of whom there is no knowledge. Two of her brothers: 1. Peter Petrie, b. 16 Jul 1849, Sandsting, SHI, SCT 2. William Petrie, b. Nov 1851, Sandsting, SHI, SCT A third brother, Garth Petrie, b. 9 Dec 1844, Whiteness, SHI, SCT, married Martha Aitken, b. 25 Aug 1846, Lerwick, SHI, SCT. Their children were : 1. Margaret E. A. Petrie, b. 1875, Leith, MLN, SCT 2. Garth Petrie, b. 23 Dec 1878, 88 Duke Street, Leith, MLN, SCT 3. Barbara Petrie, b. 1880, Leith, MLN, SCT 4. Martha Petrie, b. 1884, Leith, MLN, SCT I shall take a more leisurely look at your names off line and get back to you Regards Pam Thomson
