Hi gang, The following Petrie Gravestone Inscriptions were kindly recorded recently by Murray & Clare Nicoll, sincere thanks to them for taking the time to transcribe & photograph them . ******* Norma, Clare and I had a day out in the southeast part of Kincardine. We visited 8 graveyards out of 15 that are there. We will do the remainder on another day before the 11 August. This where my PETRIE line came from. The further northwards we went towards Stonehaven, the less and less PETRIE stones we found, therefor I am thinking of keeping this search about the southern end of the county and the northern end of Angus. The graveyards still to be done are New Dosk, Fettercairn Old, Fettercairn New, Auchenblae, Glenbervie, Catterline, and Kinneff. Here below are the inscriptions that we collected. My John Petrie was of Laurencekirk and he married Margaret Innes of Marykirk in 1792. 2. In the IGI there is in St Cyrus the following John PETRIE Sex: M Event(s): Christening: 27 Aug 1769 Saint Cyrus, Kincardine, Scotland Parents: Father: Alexander PETRIE. The dates from the IGI would make this John a good candidate for being my John. The date of all of them would also tie in with the MI above. Clare, can you please send me the photo of this grave. I know I am just guessing here so I would like someone else's opinion. Once we get back this far, how can we tell for sure who belongs with who? I look forward to your suggestions. Patricia Taggart
