Hi Gang I received the undernoted enquiry a wee while ago, and just recently a scanned copy of the small water-colour in question. The enquirer is I think following up on it possibly being the work of William Matthew Flinders Petrie, but I do not know if he turned his hand to painting also ?? My database shows a number of Wm. M. Petrie's who could all potentially be the artist, but without any further information or a date on the painting it's difficult to know which one he might be.... if anyone can claim this artistic ancestor, do let us know !!! I'll bring the e.mail copy of the water colour to the Gathering. for the noo Norma ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, June 26, 2001 5:42 PM Subject: william petrie > I have a small watercolour [a Venetian scene] signed by Wm.M Petrie.Could it be by the famous member of your family? Your address was given to me by Simon Eccles of the Burrell Gallery who was most interested and helpful. I have arranged an e-mail copy of the painting to be sent to you. Pat McInnes. > >
