Hi Terri, I am digging around in my files, and came across your query on George Petrie who was witness at your GG Grandparents wedding. I found in 1881 census info a George Petrie of Westfield Cottage, (Home Farm), New Spynie, Elgin (1881 NEW SPYNIE, ELGIN (district 1 page 4) which is same address of the marriage. >From his age & place of birth on the census I can match him in the database as son of William Petrie & Isabella Ralph, I have William & Isabella's 1859 marriage cert at Alves, Moray and his parents are noted as William Petrie & Jane Thompson. According to the age on the marriage certificate William was born c1829, unfortunately I have no details of his birth or his parents Marriage in the database. Hope it's of interest.
