Hi Russ, I note in your response to someone on the PETRIE list, the Georgina PETRIE information. I know I'm grasping at straws, but It's worth a try.....I have never found the birth records of my Great Grandmother, Catherine PETRIE. I do know she was born in Caithness, probably Wick about 1850. I deduce this from two pieces of separate information....her marriage certificate in 1872 in Glasgow, where she is listed as being 22 years old and that her parents (both deceased) were George PETRIE and Elizabeth CAMPBELL, both of Wick. Also, she is listed on the 1861 census for Wick as a 12 year old servant to the BREMNER family at their farm, Barnyards, just outside of Wick. She is listed as a cowherd, born in Caithnesshire. What made your email particularly interesting is that she named her first born child, my Grandmother, Isabella BAIN (MOYES, her married name). Since she gave her first child the middle name of BAIN, is it possible that the Georgina BAIN mentioned in your Email could be a cousin or possibly a half sister? As I say, I'm grasping at straws, but desperate people look for any connections that might exist! I've found no records of George PETRIE, her father (my great great Grandfather) or her Mother, Elizabeth CAMPBELL! Thanks for any thoughts you might have....or anyone else on the PETRIE list!
