Thanks to all of you who responded to my request. I will get my brother to have a look at the responses and see what he thinks best fits for our grandfather since he knew him better than I. What we discovered on the internet search were the following: There is an estate in Abercorn Northern Ireland - listed under Townlands by Major Estate - Barony of Dunluce, Stanalane. In another search we found "Stanalane Estate" location - Isle of Islay. Islay has it's own family history web site but I think we need to try to figure out a bit more before I go that route. Stephen Baker probably has the more interesting description! Thanks Stephen. The first house that my grandfather John (Jack) Petrie build here in Canada was in fact stone and is still very lovely. I am quite sure it is how he likely remembered homes in Scotland. I also hope all of you have a wonderful time at when you meet in Scotland - I will wish I was there. Karen
